> Learning language
as a skill in the class.
> Developing spoken
skill through exposure and use.
Classroom activities:
- Surveys and Interviews.- In the simplest form of a classroom survey practice the teacher hands out ready-made questions—maybe 3 for each student—around a topic that is being studied.
- Discuss and Debate.- More mature students can discuss and
debate issues with a partner. They can even be told which side of the argument
they should each try to promote interaction.
- Running Dictation.- This useful activity requires
students to use all four language skills—reading, writing, listening, and
speaking—and if carefully planned and well-controlled can cause both great
excitement and exceptional learning.
- Short Talks.- Create a stack of topic cards for
your students, so that each student will have their own card. With a topic to
try to express their opinion or described some situations.
- Dialogues and Role Plays.- A great
way to introduce or review these words is to practice them in dialogues
accompanied by pictures.
- Describe My Part of the
Classroom.- Have students in groups separate into different
parts of the room.
